The favorites to the Premier League, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, got off to an exciting start to the season. They all recorded comfortable wins. Elsewhere, Manchester United and Arsenal struggled, while the newly promoted teams looked prepared for the tests that lie ahead. What did the Premier League favorites do?
Manchester City was particularly impressive against an Arsenal side seemingly riddled with same issues as last season. As things stand, City’s greatest issue has to do with too much squad depth. It’s an issue other managers would love to struggle with.

Chelsea and Liverpool showed they can play offensive football. Both teams won and gave fans reasons to be excited for the matches ahead. Liverpool’s goalscoring mechanics up front were especially impressive. Naby Keita already seems to have integrated in Klopp’s team.
What about the newly promoted teams?
Wolverhampton looked prepared for the rigors of the Premier League. Wolves came back twice from behind, to neutralize newly signed Richarlison’s two goals, and hold Everton to a draw.
Fulham succumbed to a 2-0 defeat away to Crystal Palace. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was Crystal’s biggest asset doing well to mark Fulham’s rising star. Ryan Sessegnon. Elsewhere, Cardiff City had a similar fate against Bournemouth, losing 2-0. Bournemouth fans could celebrate a steady increase in the team’s abilities. The club found itself in the fourth tier of English football merely ten years ago.

Richarlison (Everton) – The good performance in itself is not a surprise, but the fact that the Brazilian has taken so quickly to his new club is. The 21 year old arrived for his new club this summer for a fee of around of around 39,20 Mill. €. Richarlison could be one of the breakout stars of the season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace) – The young defender was given the difficult task of marking Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, one of the most talked about young players in international football. The 20 year old did a good job. So good in fact that many have called for Wan-Bissaka to be include din Gareth Southgate’s future plans for the England squad.
