Current season’s title favorites, Borussia Dortmund, are looking to put further distance between themselves and their nearest challengers, Borussia M.Gladbach, when they meet on Friday. Elsewhere, current Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munchen, are getting ready for a difficult match against heavyweights in the making RB Leipzig. Here are the players you may want on your fantasy team.
Dortmund have enjoyed a wonderful season that has seen them top the Bundesliga and easily advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Their form, coupled with Bayern Munchen’s uncharacteristically poor showing, makes them favorites to win the German league for the first time since 2012.
A potentially vital match for the title’s fate takes place at the season’s half point, this Friday. Dortmund’s rivals are Borussia M.Gladbach, the team sat in second place, and, by most accounts, playing well above their means. Certainly Monchengladbach are doing well, but questions about their consistency throughout the season are still bound to come up.
Here are some of the top players to look out for when creating your draft of your perfect fantasy football team:
Marco Reus – FW (Borussia Dortmund)
Thorgan Hazard – MF (Monchengladbach)
Axel Witsel – MF (Borussia Dortmund)
Yann Sommer – GK (Monchengladbach)
Jadon Sancho – FW (Borussia Dortmund)
Oscar Wendt – DF (Monchengladbach)
Lukasz Piszczek – DF (Borussia Dortmund)

The other German derby to be played this week is that between Bayern Munchen and RB Leipzig. While Bayern has held an iron grip on the competition recent years, the Leipzig side are the newest German arrivals to football’s big time, with the help of a good scouting campaign and a considerable transfer budget.

Bayern are only third in the standings, nine points behind leaders Dortmund, but seem to have steadied the ship from the trouble waters they found themselves in. The team has won their last three encounters and have booked an early place in the next phase of the UCL. Still, there’s a growing feeling that this season will lead to significant changes to the Bavarian squad in the summer, rumors, that although unconfirmed, may affect the mood in the dressing room.
RB Leipzig are settling in to their status as one of Germany’s more important sides. A controversial club, due to their corporate sponsorship and accelerated access to the top tier, Leipzig gained access to the Champions League on only their maiden Bundesliga season. Last year they finished sixth, but with a squad boasting impressive talent, a place among the league’s best looks on the card for the campaign ending in 2019.
Here are some of players worth keeping an eye on:
Joshua Kimmich – DF (Bayern Munchen)
Timo Werner – FW (RB Leipzig)
Robert Lewandowski – FW (Bayern Munchen)
Diego Demme – MF (RB Leipzig)
David Alaba – DF (Bayern Munchen)
Peter Gulacsi – GK (RB Leipzig)
Thiago Alcantara – MF (Bayern Munchen)
