Sleeping giants rose back up in the 2024/25 edition of fantasy football Serie A. Like in the old days, fans have an old-fashioned dogfight on their hands. Let’s see which of the top teams got their players in the Team of the Season and which fantasy football players proved to be real surprises.

Team of the Year

Goalkeeper

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (FC Torino)

You will have found it hard to play fantacalcio without Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. No longer the less famous of two footballing brothers, Vanja has remained committed to FC Torino and has brought his best performances each week.

FC Torino are mid-table.  It’s a satisfying result for them, and their goalkeeper has a lot to do with that.

Defenders

Amir Rrahmani (Napoli)

Antonio Conte doesn’t just manage football teams. Conte creates well-drilled, hard-working units, and brings out the best in the players most willing to put in the effort.

Amir Rrahmani has proven a very good soldier for Napoli and Conte this season. He is the defender in fantasy football in 2024’s Serie A.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo

Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli)

Di Lorenzo was reinvented as a player throughout this 2024 campaign. After an unsuccessful run with the Italian national team in the Summer, Di Lorenzo came back to Napoli willing to do anything to save his career.

That anything often meant playing in a new position, a centre-back. It all worked, and Di Lorenzo is once again one of the best in Italy.

Federico Dimarco (Inter Milano)

This season, Inter Milano lagged just slightly off the team’s regular, incredible pace. One thing that remained consistent was Federico Dimarco‘s performances. The left-back brought skill and work ethic to the position. His eight assists help place him in our Team of the Year.

Angelino (AS Roma)

Angelino gave his career a restart this season. The wing-back earns extra points for doing it within a team that’s often been adrift, AS Roma. Consistent and dependable, Angelino finally showed his previous employers what they were missing.

Midfielders

Andre Zambro Anguissa (Napoli)

Andre Anguissa will go down as one of the great leaders of the modern Serie A teams. But he may also go down as a leader who won Napoli more than one Scudetto if things carry on in this way.

Anguissa has been the midfield general of a highly organized Napoli team and the best midfielder in Serie A fantasy football.

Marten de Roon (Atalanta)

Atalanta has enjoyed a dream last 12 months. The only thing that could make it better is to sneak off the Scudetto away from Napoli and Inter. If and when that happens, Marten de Roon will have contributed. Whether starting as the playmaker or switching to a centre-back role, the Dutchman has brought his best in 2024.

Matteo Guendouzi (Lazio)

Matteo Guendouzi has proven wrong all those who had written him off before the season. It’s true, even Laziali fans had their doubts about the talented but often petulant French playmaker.

Guendozi, however, rewarded manager Marco Baroni’s confidence with what has often been strong performances. Yes, there have still been hiccups along the way, but Guendouzi will try to get rid of those in 2025.

Ederson (Atalanta)

Atalanta has shown the pragmatic, cynical football managers how it’s done. The team continues to both entertain and pick up results.

Ederson was one of the team’s best players and one of the strongest picks in fantacalcio. The Brazilian’s skilful passing and aggressive pressing have made Gian Piero Gasperini’s team game tick.

Attackers

Ademola Lookman (Atalanta)

When Ademola Lookman scored a hat-trick in the final of the 2024 Europa League final, he was either going to relaunch his career or be seen as one of the great “what ifs” of modern football.

Thankfully, he is on his way to doing the former. Lookman scored 10 goals and assisted 5 in the 2024/25 season. Your fantasy football draft needs the Nigerian!

Marcus Thuram (Inter Milano)

Marcus Thuram has been forced to pick up the slack for Inter’s more famous attackers. Luckily, he was on hand to do just that. Thuram’s gone on a goal run that’s seen him score 13 times.

At times, it was this consistency that kept Inter’s Scudetto dreams alive. Confident and, seemingly at the peak of his powers, this is the time to get Thuram in your FootballCoin fantasy football team.
