The Basque country has always provided the football world with exciting, highly motivated players. Alex Remiro is certainly one of the best goalkeepers that Spain has produced recently. In 2024, he proved this.
While Sociedad’s form has oscilated, Remiro has remained a consistently strong performer. Remiro is the goalkeeper of the year in fantasy football.
Defenders
Jules Kounde (FC Barcelona)
With FC Barcelona’s attackers scoring so many goals, it may have been easy to forget about the defenders. Jules Kounde has often been keen to remind fans of his ability. The Frenchman dominated the right flank across 2024.
Inigo Martinez (FC Barcelona)
Inigo Martinez is not the typical Barcelona signing. The defender had carved out a strong career, representing the Basque sides Bilbao and Sociedad.
In 2023, Barca signed him out of necessity. It proved a great deal as Martinez used 2024 to establish himself as a great defender.
Miguel Gutierrez (Girona)
If you’re a football hipster, chances are that you watched Girona’s evolution across 2024. The Michel-coached team was nearly a title challenger in the 2023/24 edition and continued their good performances this campaign.
Gutierrez was one of the team’s strongest performers and a great choice for your fantasy football draft.
Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid)
Antonio Rudiger is the bad man of Spanish football. A defender who strikes fear in the hearts of attackers and a great leader of Real Madrid, Rudiger enjoyed another great campaign.
Real Madrid is once more the Champions League winner, and the German defender played a big part in that.
Midfielders
Federico Valverde (Real Madrid)
Is there any role that Federico Valverde cannot play? The Uruguayan is, without doubt, the best midfield signing in Real Madrid’s recent history.
His command of the ball and great passing easily earned him the title of the best La Liga midfielder in fantasy football.
Dodi Lukebakio (Sevilla FC)
Dodi Lukebakio is a surprising but pleasing addition to our Team of the Year. The Belgium-born attacking midfielder has been giving Sevilla fans hope across 2024. Capable of playing in multiple roles and with an eye for goals, Lukebakio is a great talent.
David Lopez (Girona)
David Lopez has been another gem for your fantasy football draft. The veteran midfielder has proven to be a real leader for Girona, contributing numerous great passes and goal-scoring, creating chances.
Luis Milla (Getafe)
Luis Milla is another nice surprise addition to our Team of the Year. While he might not have always passed the “eye score,” Milla’s performances have been remarkably consistent. Milla is the kind of player that racks up the points in fantasy football for your draft.
Attackers
Raphinha (FC Barcelona)
Was Raphinha always this good? Were fans of Leeds aware that they had a potential superstar in their squad? That’s uncertain, but whatever doubters the Brazilian has had, they’ve been proven wrong in 2024.
Raphinha has been a joy to watch in this Barcelona side. He’s scored 12 goals in the new season, and by the looks of it, there are more to come.
Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)
Antoine Griezmann was nearly spoiled by his experience in Barcelona. Back at Atletico Madrid and reunited with Diego Simeone, Griezmann has, once again, become a dependable starter and a player who works more than most.
The Frenchman had a great 2024, and there are very few attacking players with the requisite skills that he possesses. Choose Griezmann for your fantasy football draft!
