It’s a big moment for the MLS and North American football in general. With a future World Cup due to be hosted in the USA and Canada, many North American players active in the world’s top leagues, and a lot of interest in the MLS itself, football fans across the world are keeping a watchful eye on the 2021 season.
If you’re making plans for what your fantasy MLS squad is going to look like, here are a few points when it comes to your team’s attack. These 5 strikers have impressed us the most with their goals, assists, chances they’ve created, and the points they accrued in FootballCoin.
1. Javi Chicharito Hernandez (LA Galaxy)
Tears were wept by Chicharito when it was first announced that he would be leaving European football to join the MLS. Still, the former Real Madrid forward has put in the work and is on route to becoming an LA Galaxy legend.
This season he has netted 10 goals from 10 appearances. All of these were scored from inside the 6-yard-box. It all goes to prove that the classic number 9 role the Mexican has often been associated with is of great use in the MLS as it was in Europe’s finest leagues.
2. Ole Kamara (DC United)
The Norwegian forward has been quite the journeyman in his career. In the MLS, however, he has enjoyed some of his greatest success. He has scored 4 goals this season from 9 appearances. He makes our list, however, because of the constant threat he provides defenses. Ole Kamara averages 3.7 xG, wins 2.99 aerial duels per game, and generally contributes offensively to almost all attacks registered by D.C. United.
3. Raul Ruidiaz (Seattle Sounders FC)
Raul Ruidiaz is one of the master goalscorers of the 2021 season. He’s managed 14 goals in 14 matches so far. He creates an astonishing 9.8 xG with Seattle consistently looking to get the Peruvian on the end of almost every attacking play.
Ruidiaz is already considered a great of North American football. In 2017 he won Mexican Balon de Oro. Now, at 30 years old, he seems to be enjoying the best period of his career. A great pick for your fantasy soccer team.
4. Adam Bucksa (New England Revolution)
Adam Bucksa is a great choice for any fantasy soccer side. This season, almost every time he played, you could bet that the Polish forward was ready to contribute something to the game. Much of this is due to his versatility. Bucksa scores with either foot, headed goals, and is a menace for opposition defenses. It is true that his stats have taken a slight tumble in recent weeks, but we still consider Bucksa to be one of the best bets for your fantasy soccer draft.
5. Carlos Vela (Los Angeles FC)
Yes, it is a fact that Carlos Vela is, for all intents and purposes The Face of MLS. It is also true that the Mexican forward hasn’t quite been up to his regular standard. Still, even so, Vela’s stat emerges as some of the best in the entire MLS. He has scored only 3 goals, but he has assisted 4.
Furthermore, he’s done so while playing in only 11 matches for Los Angeles FC. He also averages an xG of 4 and he took 3.87 shots per 90 minutes. At 32 years of age, there is still plenty to come from this MLS legend.
