MLS fantasy soccer has already provided us with a healthy dose of surprises in the start of this 2025 season. But what if you could know exactly what was to happen in the week ahead?

While I cannot promise a flawless ability to predict, I can make suggestions of which I am confident. These are five players that you need to draft for your fantasy soccer team ahead of Week 4.

The 5 Players You Need on Your Week 4 Fantasy MLS Soccer Team

James Pantemis (Portland Timbers)

Portland goalie, James Pantemis is, I know, a strange recommendation. But look closer at this pick. The Canadian keeper is one of the few reasons that the Timbers’ fans can have some hope for this season.

Secondly, with the team facing the ailing LA Galaxy, Pantemis’ skills can come in handy (pun intended!). I predict saves and even, perhaps, a clean sheet. That should help your team’s tally nicely.

As for LA Galaxy, little I’ve seen tells me that they’re out of the woods just yet.

Jayden Nelson (Vancouver Whitecaps)

The Vancouver Whitecaps have been a delight throughout the first weeks of the 2025 season. Yes, they’re one of the biggest surprise packages of this campaign. However, with the kind of confidence that the team enjoys, this form can last a while longer.

Jayden Nelson has been the pick of the litter for the Canadian side. Young, fast, technical and with great vision, Nelson has already provided three assists and a goal. A match against FC Dallas sounds just like the right moment to work more of that magic.

Luis Muriel (Orlando SC)

Luis Muriel was one of the players we highlighted after last week. And, frankly, it’s good to see one of the league’s top stars living up to the standards that fans must hold them to. Most of the other big names in the league have been underwhelming.

Muriel, after creating an incredible legacy in Serie A, has returned closer to home. Orlando SC is one of the more exciting teams this season.

Muriel is one of the players who dominates the league for progressive passes, carries and, of course, shot-creating actions. Picking him for your team nearly guarantees you points!

Kai Wagner (Philadelphia Union)

I’ll admit it! I have a soft spot for Kai Wagner. But this is mainly because the player is the model of consistency. One of the best players in the MLS for several years, Wagner always shows up for Philadelphia Union.

Wagner is already one of the best rated players across the three weeks of the 2025 season. I predict that the German defender, who has such an undeniable ability to also contribute to goals, will continue racking up the points for your fantasy soccer team.

Andy Najar (Nashville SC)

The Honduran Andy Najar was one of the best players of last week. And while his performances over the years, for clubs like DC United or Anderlecht, have been a mixed bag, there’s enough to make me think that 2025 is the moment his career kicks into a higher gear.

At the very least, last week’s great display against Portland Timbers, makes me believe that you should take a chance. Nashville SC meets an equally difficult opponent this weekend, Philadelphia Union. If Nashville is to manage and get a good result here, it’ll likely be through Najar’s contribution.
