Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah are two of the best-known forwards in the EPL. Not only that, but they’ve started the season by scoring. So, what are the managers who don’t own them, or can’t afford them to do? Here are some alternatives for your fantasy football squad ahead of GW3 in the EPL.
Pricey alternatives
Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal)
- Currently sells for 2100 XFC
Gabriel Jesus has sparkled in his opening games for the new club Arsenal. Not only that but for the first time in years there’s a growing sense of optimism surrounding The Gunners.
An away trip against the newly-promoted Bournemouth appears to be the perfect opportunity for Jesus to add to his tally. Purchasing his FootballCoin card comes at a cost, but the investment may pay off throughout the season.
Son Heung-Min (Tottenham)
- Currently sells for 7000 XFC
There’s no denying Son Heung-Min’s scoring ability. Last year he finished joint top scorer with Mohamed Salah. The market knows this as well, and you’ll need to spend big if you want to bring him into your draft.
Would this transfer still be worthwhile right now? Spurs travel to the stubbornly defensive Wolverhampton. Son might find it tough, but, again, this is a transfer to consider for the long term.
Budget picks
Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham)
- Currently available only on the FootballCoin exchange
The way Aleksandar Mitrovic made light work of the Liverpool defense in GW1, particularly Virgil van Dijk, you would think he’d been playing in the Premier League his whole life. In fact, this, except for the seasons spent with Fulham in the Championship, happens to be the truth.
Mitrovic is a great striker, and, frankly, Fulham’s only serious goal threat. Taking on Brentford at home looks like the perfect opportunity for the Serbian to strike again. Make sure you head over to the FootballCoin exchange for a chance to get Mitrovic in your draft.
Rodrigo Moreno (Leeds United)
- Currently sells for 1000 XFC
There has never been any doubt about Rodrigo Moreno’s ability to improve Leeds. This season, however, could be the one in which he establishes himself as one of the EPL’s best strikers. He has started out well enough, scoring three goals already.
Can he do the same against Chelsea? It won’t be an easy mission, but Leeds’ versatility could prove a foil to Thomas Tuchel‘s well-drilled tactics. Rodrigo is a good budget pick for GW3.
Dark horse picks
Danny Ings (Aston Villa)
- Currently free with season lease
Danny Ings may well be one of the most underrated forwards in modern Premier League history. He joined Aston Villa last season, after successful campaigns with Southampton.
Playing against Leicester away seems like the game would suit him. Besides, it will cost you no XFC to get him on your team. It’s a no-brainer!
Kieffer Moore (AFC Bournemouth)
- Currently free with season lease
Kieffer Moore is one of the most athletic strikers around. It is something that Welsh fans have known for a while and information to which EPL defenders will need to get accustomed.
Bournemouth will desperately search for goals this season. Getting them in a game against Arsenal doesn’t sound particularly reassuring. Still, if you’re looking to spend none of your funds on GW3 for a forward, Moore may just do the job.
