David Luiz is one of Chelsea’s highest-profile players. Luiz was one of the most important presences in Chelsea’s title win last season. The team is not exactly performing per expected standard this season. Some blame the players. Others blame manager Antonio Conte. And even more blame the strained relationship between the two.
Antonio Conte once again denied that any rift existed between himself and his squad. David Luiz was recently left out of Chelsea’s squad. Naturally, there were rumors that a fight had been at the core of the decision to leave the defender out of the squad.
Luiz will once again miss out of the squad. Conte says that the Brazilian is recuperating from an injury. When asked if this was the case a few weeks back, as well, the manager seemed angered by the media scrutiny. The Italian insists that there is no problem between himself and his squad.
Regardless, Chelsea will need to get back to their regular pace if they hope to salvage the season. The team is still in contention for both the Premier League title and the Champions League. Chelsea are top of their group and regardless of their result against Atletico Madrid, will qualify to next round of the UCL.
