The UEFA Champions League 2019/20 edition is set to be completed. Officials announced plans to host a mini-tournament of the UCL. It will begin in August in the city of Portugal.
Here’s what you need to know and how it will affect fantasy football.
Champions League showdown
The UEFA Champions League is the last major competition to announce its plans for the 2019/20 season. Updates arrive after the restart of major domestic leagues across Europe like the Bundesliga and Premier League. Meanwhile, other competitions, like Ligue 1, have been canceled altogether for the current season.
UEFA’s Plan B is to host the UCL as a mini-tournament. All matches, starting with the Round of 16, will be played in the city of Lisbon, Portugal.
Matches will start being played on August 7th. All fixtures will be played on two stadiums, Estádio José Alvalade and Estádio da Luz, the home turf of Sporting Lisbon and Benfica, respectively.
Favorites to win the 2020 UCL trophy
Paris Saint-Germain needs to be included among the favorites to win the competition. The Parisians are already through to the Quarter-Finals after defeating Borussia Dortmund in a closely fought tie.
Juventus, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munchen are all still in the competition. These football heavyweights will all be eyeing the major prize. However, all of these four will first need to go through the process of securing qualification to the QF stage.
