The Best 10 Fantasy Football Picks in the EFL Championship in 2024
10. Josh Brownhill (Burnley) – 398 points in FootballCoin
Yes, Burnley, naturally, began the EFL Championship campaign as one of the favourites. But, after all, this is one of the most difficult competitions in all of football, and the team should be happy to be sitting 2nd in the table by the new year.
Josh Brownhill is the team’s top scorer this campaign, having found the net 9 times. The 29-year-old midfielder has his eye on returning to the EPL and so do his teammates.
9. Finn Azaz (Middlesborough) – 400 points
8. Thomas Kaminski (Luton Town) – 401 points
Thomas Kaminski was quite impressive in the Premier League last season, in spite of Luton sinking in the standings without a trace. Good performances are what he’s been able to bring one step down. Luton Town is still struggling, nearing dangerous relegation territory, but the Belgium keeper is in fine form. Would Kaminski follow the team down to League One? Don’t hold your breath for it!
7. Paul Nardi (Queens Park Rangers) – 412 points
6. Jamie Cumming (Oxford United) – 416 points
5.Aynsley Pears (Blackburn) – 435 points
4. Michael Cooper (Sheffield United) – 445 points
3. James Trafford (Burnley) – 446 points
Teams just can’t find a way past James Trafford this season. While, at times, it feels like the goalie ought to be representing a team in a top tier, that could soon come true. Burnley have only conceded 9 goals in 26 games. If the defence record stays this way in 2025, it’s upward for Trafford and for the club.
2. Borja Sainz – (Norwich City) – 487 points
Sainz is one of the undisputed stars of the EFL Championship. While the Canaries are unlikely to be able to keep the talented striker on the books for too long, the Spaniard is working hard to give the team a fighting chance at promotion. For the moment, Norwich is stuck mid-table. but Sainz is the league’s top scorer. His 15 goals make him one of the best fantasy football picks for the Championship, and still keep Norwich in the race.
1. Viktor Johansson (Stoke City) – 553 points in FootballCoin in 2024
Viktor Johansson has been the best fantasy football pick in this season of the Championship. It’s remarkable for a goalie to earn this many points. But it’s all the more remarkable considering that Stoke City hasn’t had a great campaign.
The Swede has done this by making the most saves in the entire league and having the lowest expected coefficient for goals expected to be conceded by a keeper. Stoke doesn’t look ready to move anywhere this 2024/25 campaign, but Johansson definitely should.
