Euro 2024, naturally, is set to bring some surprises, but more often than not, it confirms existing opinions. The latter seems to be true of Group E.
But Euro 2024 fantasy football managers should be weary of making hasty decisions. Poor form and frequent injuries have snuck into our calculations.
And, because I’ve factored those in, I’m ready to bring you my preview and predictions for potentially tricky Group E.
EURO 2024 FANTASY FOOTBALL – GROUP E
Belgium
Slovakia
Romania
Ukraine
Belgium
Preview
Belgium has been one of the best national teams in the world for nearly 16 years. And what do they have to show for it? No medals, that’s for sure.
And while some Belgium players are still highly rated, and while Group E seems to be easy-picking for Domenico Todesco’s team, it’s hard to ignore their downward trajectory.
They won their qualifying group without any stress at all, and Romelu Lukaku scored a bunch of goals. But which of the elite teams can they still win against?
Predicted Line-up
Casteels
Castagne Vertonghen Faes De Cuyper
De Bruyne Onana Tielemans/Mangala
Doku Lukaku Trossard
Fantasy football prediction
Belgium looks set to win Group E. They also look set to score goals.
But some things may conspire against them, including injuries and overconfidence.
Worries aside, Lukaku scored 14 goals in eight matches in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. He’s not had a good season otherwise, but against teams like Ukraine, Romania, and Slovakia, he can still do a job. Pick him!
Also, go for Belgium midfielders when you can. This team will enjoy colossal amounts of possession, even if they should surprisingly fail to win some of their three group matches.
The same can be said for defenders. But only in the group stage. A more experienced side could pick this Belgium defense apart.

Slovakia
Preview
Slovakia is another team that doesn’t look set to excite neutral fans, but it has the quality to create serious upsets.
The team has just delivered one of Slovakia’s best qualifying campaigns in their history. They did win seven games.
Slovakia’s team also includes a fair deal of experience, players who have been active in top leagues for a few years.
Finally, Slovakia hasn’t quite faced the opposition of elite teams so far. But this is why Group E seems to be ideal for them.
Predicted Line-up
Dubravka
Pekarik Gyomber/Vavro Skriniar Hancko
Suslov/Kucka Lobotka Duda
Schranz Bozenik Haraslin
Fantasy football prediction
Slovakia’s best players, for the most part, earned their tripes playing in the Italian Serie A at a high level. Consequently, this is a well-organized, defensive team.
The team’s best players tend to come through in important games. Captain Milan Skriniar, defensive midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, or keeper Martin Dubravka should all step up. That’s why they are worthy of considering picking for your Euro 2024 fantasy football team.
Still, it’s worth not getting carried away. Slovakia still looks set to be the fourth favorite to win an otherwise unimpressive group.

Romania
Preview
Romania is not quite enjoying a comeback to its glory days of the 1990s. But, quietly, they’ve been making things work in a different way.
The Romanians qualified first of a qualifying group that included Switzerland and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
They have few stars but proved to be a very strong defensive unit, something that always comes in handy during these tournaments. Romania conceded just five goals in ten games.
Central defender Radu Dragusin, a Tottenham player since earlier this year, has been the team’s best player. Elsewhere, the core of Romania’s team is made up of players in their mid-20s who are just approaching their prime, like Ianis Hagi and Dennis Man.
It’s hard to see Romania moving mountains, but it’s difficult to see teams easily breaking down their defense, either.
Predicted Line-up
Moldovan
Ratiu Dragusin Burca Bancu
Cicaldau Marin
D.Man Stanciu Hagi
Alibec
Fantasy football prediction
Romania, on paper, has one of the least impressive squads assembled for Euro 2024. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing for a fantasy football manager looking for a deal.
Romania has excelled defensively. That means that central defenders Dragusin and Andrei Burca could be part of your team. The goalkeepers, Florin Nita and Horatiu Moldovan, may also be worth considering.
Offensively, however, Romania doesn’t offer many players worth focusing on at the moment.

Ukraine
Preview
Ukraine’s status in these kinds of tournaments has been growing steadily and consistently. The fact that this is the fourth European tournament that they’ve qualified for in a row certainly helps in this regard.
And while they struggled to qualify for the Euros, Ukraine has added a number of potential stars to what was an already a steady, dependable side.
It’s hard to ignore just how well players like Andriy Lunin or Artem Dovbyk have performed this year or the fact that many Ukrainian players are active in top leagues.
Ukraine rarely impressed in these tournaments, but this time could be different, with some pundits seeing them as potential dark horses.
Predicted Line-up
Lunin
Konoplia) Zabarnyi Matvivenko Mykolenko
Stepanenko Zinchenko
Tsigankov Sudakov Mudryk
Dovbyk
Fantasy football prediction
There’s a lot at stake for Ukraine. Recent events, both sports-related and political, could help add some fire to the team.
Ukraine has a number of fast, strong players. Against Slovakia and Romania, they’ll likely make an impression. Viktor Tsyhankov and Mykhailo Mudryk are good midfield picks.
Andriy Lunin is a goalkeeper worth keeping an eye on, and not just in group games. Ukraine is expected to progress after that.
And, Artem Dovbyk, who propelled Girona toward Champions League qualification, should score a few goals along the way.
