Fantasy Football Championship: Preview & Best Picks for Round 10

By Eduard Bănulescu

The Championship remains the best non-top-tier football league in the world. It involves 24 strong clubs. Consequently, Championship fantasy football remains a tricky proposition.

To help you through this, I have assembled a list of players you should consider ahead of Round 10.

Remember that you’re able to use this knowledge to create your Championship fantasy football team or contest in FootballCoin and win prizes.

Championship Fantasy Football Picks

Goalkeepers

Sheffield United is leading the pack in the Championship. This is in no small part due to their water-tight defence. Michael Cooper has also scored at least three times this season. Facing Leeds will be a challenge, but one I think that he can face.

And while Swansea are lingering mid-table, had it not been for Chilean goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux. I can’t promise a clean sheet away to Blackburn, but I can forsee a good performance.

If it’s clean sheets you want, Middlesbrough’s Seny Dieng or Paul Nardi, Queens Park Rangers’ number 1, should be your main choices, mainly because of the attacking calibre of their opponents this weekend.

Defenders

Derby County was desperate for some kind of change after a three game-losing streak. They found that against QPR and discovered that Curtis Nelson could, indeed, be the man whom they built their defensive structure. Craig Forsyth also put in a strong performance as a right-back.

Luke Ayling has also been looking to revive his stalling career. Strong showings for Middlesbrough the entire season make him likely to become the team’s player of the season.

And, since we spoke of Sheffield’s defensive record earlier, I need to focus your attention on the defensive partnership between Harry Souttar and Anel Ahmedhodzic. Both are well worth considering for your fantasy football team.

Midfielders

What about passing maestros and unstoppable dribblers? Yes, the Championship has some of those in the 2024/25 season, but not all are well suited to fantasy football. Not all provide the stats required to improve your team.

One who does is West Bromwich Albion’s Alex Mowatt. The 29-year-old has been consistent. He registers a 91% passing success rate. He’s also managed three goals and takes 0.8 shots on target per game.

His Sheffield team-mate Jesurum Rak-Sakyi impressed terrifically in the team’s last outing. The 22-year-old scored a brace and terrorized defences on the left flank.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday is putting its hopes on veteran Barry Bannan, who has been with the club for nearly a decade.

Finally, no other player has managed more assists than Tom Fellows. The 21-year-old is proving West Brom’s secret weapon in a season in which the team hopes to be promoted back to the EPL.

Attackers

There are few defenders tougher than those in the Championship. That means the attackers trying to score against them are also, typically, physical, ambitious players with an eye for converting chances.

But there are exceptions. Spanish striker Borja Sainz possesses a silly touch, great skill on the ball and can score great goals. He’s managed seven this season, and there’s no reason he should stop here.

His teammate, Josh Sargent, a player who was on the radar of many important scouts a couple of years ago, is also doing well with his time in the Championship. He had a great game last week. Consistency is still needed, but the American remains a good player.

Another familiar name will be that of towering striker Kieffer Moore. He has managed one goal this season but seems to be finding his rhythm. Considering Sheffield United’s fine form, the Welsh player may well take advantage to add goals to his tally.
