The Premier League table is finally starting to shape up. That’s good news only for a few clubs. The rest of them will be desperate to find solutions ahead of Week 8. What will this mean for fantasy football in the Premier League?
I’ve looked at the fixtures and stats. Now, let’s talk about some of the players that you’ll want for your fantasy football team.

Fantasy Football Premier League for Round 8
Attackers
Expect goals from the Tottenham – West Ham game. This opens up Round 8, and there’s a general feeling that if Ange Postecoglou‘s men don’t get the victory here, the entire season can unravel.
We’re likely to see Son Heung-Min return. Dominik Solanke and Brennan Johnson can also provide the firepower in a game that promises plenty of goals or, at the very least, many shots on target.
But who are the attackers best worth your time ahead of Round 8? There’s no denying Erling Haaland‘s current record. He has scored 10 goals in the EPL so far. The Norwegian will also have a chip on his shoulder coming back from a painful international break in which Norway lost 5-1 to Austria.
Cole Palmer and Mohamed Salah are two of the only attackers that rival Haaland. However, they’ll face against each other in the week’s derby, Liverpool – Chelsea. It’s likely that tight defences will partly neutralize the threat of each of these players.
Consider, instead, Chris Wood as an alternative pick. The Nottingham Forest will face a Crystal Palace defence that has leaked goals recently. Furthermore, Wood is the designated penalty taker for Forest.
Also, Bryan Mbeumo can be a last-moment addition to your fantasy football squad. Not only has the Brentford striker been on fire recently, but he’ll face Manchester United, which he’s terrorized in recent seasons.
We saved the best for last. Bukayo Saka is in excellent form and is very likely to score.
Goalkeepers and Defenders
When looking at goalkeepers who may keep a clean sheet this weekend, I immediately think of Arsenal’s David Raya (the Gunners face Bournemouth) or Manchester City’s Ederson (Guardiola’s men play Wolves away).
However, when looking for a goalie that will also be involved in the action and keep his head above water, you can consider taking your chances with Mark Flekken. Little of what Ten Hag’s United suggests you should be fearful of a goal-fest against Brentford.
Meanwhile, you can try to blend the type of defenders you pick by their ability to counter-attack threats and by their ability to create goal-scoring chances themselves.
Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk has had a good season and often comes alive in derbies. Nikola Milenkovic‘s transfer to Forest has suited him, and he’s one of the breakout stars of the season. And Gabriel Magalhaes will likely perform well.
Meanwhile, Josko Gvardiol will try to take advantage of the Wolves’ reluctance to press Manchester City’s extra man. He’s a good pick.
And, in Round 8 of EPL fantasy football, there are fewer better wingbacks than Pedro Porro and Trent-Alexander Arnold.
Midfielders
Sure, midfielders like Eberechi Eze and Youri Tielemans will continue to provide consistent great passes and create goal-scoring chances. But both will face relatively strong opposition this week.
Stars like Bruno Fernandes seem a little overrated at the moment. Noni Madueke still has to prove his consistency.
Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva will boss possession against Wolves. There’s no reason they won’t score a lot of points. Just make sure to check that they are not part of Pep Guardiola’s rotation scheme, which could include Kevin de Bruyne or even Mattheus Nunes.
Ryan Gravenberch‘s influence on Liverpool has been massive throughout the season. As a defensive midfielder, his fantasy football score won’t depend much on whether he scores goals.
Finally, Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma has more than proven that last season’s great performances were no fluke. Great pick!
