Kylian Mbappe’s recent performances have garnered transfer interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams. However, sporting director Antonio Cordon believes Monaco has the financial power to keep Mbappe at the club.
Some of the teams rumored to be interesting in signing the taletented 18-year-old: Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid. Reports even suggested that Monaco rejected a £96 million offer from a undisclosed Premier League team. In only his second season as a professional player, Mbappe scored 19 times for his club. This high level of efficiency has often drawn comparisons between the youngster and France legend Thierry Henry.
Antonio Cordon acknowledged that Monaco’s young star is on the transfer lists of many important clubs. Regardless, he believes that the club has the financial strength to keep the player. Monaco has enjoyed terrific growth since the takeover of the club in 2011 and is looking to maintain the same pace.
“Look at the figures that are being talked about, you can see that his ceiling is very high. He is a great player and he is very young. But I also tell him that his growth is due to his colleagues and the technicians he has here. ,” Cordon told AS.
“He knows. Monaco has the capacity to keep him. There are no economic problems. It is a large and historic club. He will do as he sees fit. Not every player for whom an offer arrives has to be sold.”
