MLS fantasy soccer starts this weekend. By now, you should have a good idea of the players you want for your draft. I’ve offered suggestions for players for each position that you want to scout.
But let’s get into the into the nitty gritty. Here are my predictions for Week 1 in the Eastern Conference and the players that you’ll want for your fantasy draft.
Eastern Conference Week 1 – Who To Pick
Atlanta United – CF Montreal
It is the opening day of the season here, and an expectation to see goals. Atlanta United is one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. But I predict a tight affair that they can edge out.
Who to pick: Miguel Almiron, Aleksei Miranchuk and Mateusz Klich are all picks you need from the Atalanta United squad.
Meanwhile, CF Montreal’s defender Jalen Neal may have something to former employers Los Angeles Galaxy
FC Cincinnati – New York Red Bulls
An early derby between one of the most that performed the most entertaining football last season (FC Cincinnati) and one of the the teams that should’ve (New York Red Bulls).
While Red Bulls’ season should go well, expect a few hiccups at the start. Cincinnati can win by a goal or two.
Who to pick: Evander must pick up the slack for Luciano Acosta this season. Pick him!
Eric Choupo-Moting and Emil Forsberg’s experience can make them shine. They are more expensive picks, but they are worth the trouble if you can spare leasing them in FootballCoin fantasy soccer.
Coronel is a strong choice for goalkeeper throughout 2025. But maybe consider someone else for this weekend.
Columbus Crew – Chicago Fire FC
It’s a relatively evenly matched game that should go Columbus’ way. Chicago Fire is still trying to build something. But progress is slow.
Who to pick: Of course, Diego Rossi will be scoring plenty of goals this season. He is likely to start from the first game. R. Camacho, Y. Cheberko, and S. Moreira form a strong defensive line.
Elsewhere, Brian Gutierez is one of the better playmakers in the 2025 MLS soccer season.
DC United – Toronto FC
DC United starts the season with a stronger momentum. If they can start with a win and maintain good morale, the Washington side could be one of this season’s surprise packages.
Who to pick: Theo Corbeanu joined from Granada (on loan) this Summer and is one of the most exciting talents in the MLS.
Elsewhere, Christian Benteke was last season’s top goalscorer. That’s a good pick! The Belgium will continue to fight to revive his career.
Orlando City – Philadelphia Union
Not the most entertaining teams in the league, but Orlando City should win this fairly comfortably.
Who to pick: Eduard Atuesta is a strong addition to Orlando City’s midfield. Marco Pasalic had a good 2024 and could bring more of the same.
Inter Miami CF – New York City FC
It’s the game that neutral fans will be most excited to see. Frankly, Inter Miami and New York FC are two of the teams raising the profile of the MLS.
While both are to clubs at this level, the quality of Inter’s squad is simply too good. Expect goals and a comfortable victory.
Who to pick: Yes, pick Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba if you can afford them. They offer fantasy soccer managers points consistently.
Nashville SC – New England Revolution
An even-matched game. I would expect a low-scoring draw for this one.
Who to pick: Carles Gil is New England’s finest player and one of the best in the MLS. Consider him for your team throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Nashville SC has a few highly consistent performers. Hany Mukhtar is one of the best midfielders in the MLS. Walker Zimmerman is the other player to watch,
