MLS fantasy soccer is serving us surprises left, right and centre. While the fans in us should rejoice at this, it’s made choosing the ideal draft a struggle for many.
Here are some tips for players that you should consider, along with predictions ahead of Week 5 of the MLS.

The 5 Players You Need on Your Week 5 Fantasy MLS Soccer Team
Tadeo Allende (Inter Miami)
I’d like to think that Inter Miami’s manager Alexis Da Silva heard some of my grievances about the team’s early season, but I know that is to exaggerate my importance to the Miami club. Either way, the team, especially its stars, have looked much better over the past 2 weeks.
Yes, Messi, Suarez, and Alba have been playing well. But, frankly, it’s Tadeo Allende that’s shone most consistently. The right-sided midfielder is doing much of the heavy lifting at the moment and using his commitment to get the job done.
Inter Miami has its work cut out for itself against Philadelphia Union. I expect a draw and a strong showing from Allende.
Tai Baribo (Philadelphia Union)
Yes, Philadelphia plays the Eastern Conference’s most popular team, Inter Miami, but it looks up to the challenge.
This Union side can depend on the consistency of Kai Wagner, on the creative spark of Jovan Lukic and, most recently, on the scoring prowess of Tai Baribo.
He’s managed six goals so far. One of the best finishers in the MLS, if the opportunity arises, Baribo won’t miss against a sluggish Miami defence.
Wilfried Zaha (Charlotte FC)
Wilfried Zaha is finally beginning to justify the effort of getting him playing in the MLS. What’s most intriguing is that the former Crystal Palace player is working to make himself useful to the team, not simply showboating. Although a few classic Zaha dribbles would be nice to see.
Zaha put in strong performances against Cincinnati and Miami. He scored once against Atalanta United. A home game against San Jose Earthquakes is the perfect opportunity for the Ivorian. I predict a strong performance and a comfortable victory for Charlotte.
Christian Benteke (DC United)
Christian Benteke revived his career in 2024. He was the top scorer in the MLS and a player you absolutely needed on your fantasy soccer team.
But, those who remember the entire campaign will recall that the Belgium striker properly got going later in the campaign.
For now, Benteke is creating the opportunities. He is the player to have taken the most shots on goal across the two conferences.
Against Orlando City, Benteke will likely get more opportunities. I expect him to score even though I predict a draw from this one.
Federico Bernadeschi (Toronto FC)
Yes, I know. Toronto FC looks absolutely in shambles at the start of the season. But the team’s big start, former Serie A midfielder Federico Bernadeschi, has shown traces of brilliance.
It’s his constant crosses that even got Toronto near a positive result. And it’ll be his experience that might get the team out of the whole.
Toronto takes on New York Red Bulls, another team that is of its pace. This could be the moment to turn it around and properly utilize Bernadeschi’s skills. Consider picking him for your FootballCoin team.
