A video published to Real Madrid’s social media channels show the forward saying goodbye to his teammates, among strong speculation he is to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
Alvaro Morata has been carried all across through Europe in the transfer mill of this summer. The forward first looked set to join Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. And although the striker seemed to have confirmed the deal was imminent, talks broke down and United opted to purchase Lukaku instead.
One thing remained clear though. That was that Morata was anxious to leave Real Madrid among a decreased role in the team. Although Morata has won important trophies during his short career, he has not yet received the chance to be the team’s main choice for the position of striker at either Juventus or Real.
Morata looks set to rejoin Conte at Chelsea. The manager is the one who brought the player into Juventus’ squad and the player talked about his desire to renew the partnership. “I’m going to the team managed by the coach who has placed the most faith in me, and that’s great for me.”
The deal is still to be confirmed, but unless anything out of the ordinary will occur, Morata will arrive at Premier League champions Chelsea with the clear role of replacing Diego Costa. The departure of the Spanish striker is, also, not as of yet confirmed. However, with arguments between himself and the manager showing to be a regular occurrence, as well as the decision not to include the player in the team’s recent tour of the Far East, his situation seems to have been decided.
Morata says he has already talked to two colleagues from the Spanish national team, who have played at Chelsea, to get more information about the club he is set to be joining. “I have spoken with Azpilicueta,” Morata said. “And also with Fernando Torres, who has told me he’ll give me a hand with whatever I need.”
Alvaro Morata is certainly a very good forward. If he is to join Chelsea, which seems very likely at this stage, his responsibilities in the team will increase a great deal. The London side won the Premier League title last season, displaying great form. The fans and club reps will expect more of the same and Morata will be an integral part of ensuring this happens.
