Portugal and Switzerland meet in the final Round of 16 match. At stake is not just a place in the Quarter-Finals but prestige.
Both generations of players have achieved a good deal. Neither one, however, has really put its stamp on the World Cup stage.
What to expect from this game? Who should be the fantasy football players for whom you should be watching? Let’s dig deeper.
Players to watch
Yann Sommer – He’s been one of the best goalkeepers at this tournament. Word out on the street is that Manchester United has begun negotiations with the player.
The only question is whether he’ll be fit to play. He missed out on the Swiss’ previous match. If he does, he could be the most important goalkeeper of the two games being played today.
Granit Xhaka – Xhaka is the leader of this Swiss side. He’s also one of the best midfielders in the World Cup. His passing and tackling are invaluable to Switzerland’s success. Well worth the effort of getting him on your fantasy football team.
Ruben Dias – He is adding to his reputation on the international stage. His standing as a world-class defender at club level is already well-established.
Dias was rested in Portugal’s previous match, as were other of his teammates. He will likely be very important for this match and a sensible choice for fantasy football managers.
Bruno Fernandes – He could be the player that does the most to affect Portugal’s chances of winning tonight. His two goals against Uruguay clearly showed this.
Fernandes, however, often provides uneven performances at international level. Will the Swiss be able to block him for this one?
