The Western Conference games have some catching up to do if they want to generate the same kind of excitement as their Eastern neighbors are. But things are looking up and results are starting to paint us a clear picture of what you’ll want for your fantasy soccer team soon enough.

Here are the biggest stars and the most terrible disappointments of the 3rd round of MLS football in the Western Conference.

3rd Round Western Conference Fantasy Soccer Results

Luis Muriel (Orlando City SC) – 23.5 points

After decades of earning a reputation as one of the best strikers in Europe, Muriel moved closer to home in 2024. So far, things have been going well since linking up with Orlando City SC.

Yes, Muriel couldn’t stop his team from losing to New York City FC. However, the caliber of the opponent must be taken into account. Besides, the 23.5 points earned in the last round of fantasy soccer proves that the Colombian still, very much, has what it takes to make him a strong candidate for your fantasy soccer team.

Marcus Ingvartsen (San Diego SC) – 22 points

Yes, San Diego was very much the team favored to win as they played away to Real Salt Lake. But the result and manner of playing left no doubt about who was the top side on the day.

Ingvartsen had a fine game, even scoring the final goal of the day. But, in truth, it was the entire attacking department, which includes Anders Dreyer, that thrilled throughout the game.

Mathias Laborda (Vancouver Whitecaps) – 28.5 points

Vancouver Whitecaps are certainly punching above their weight at the moment. The Canadians have won all of their first three games, most recently against Montreal. Uruguay’s Matthias Laborda dominated the right flank throughout the game.

Laborda is, without a doubt, one of the players you should consider for your fantasy soccer draft.

Johnson Tate (Vancouver Whitecaps FC) – 28.5 points

Speaking of wing-back playing for the Whitecaps, Johnson was in equally strong form. The opposition will now know to guard against these rapid fire attacks down the wings, sure. But for the time being, this strategy is delighting Canadian fans.

anders dreyer mls fantasy soccer

Anders Dreyer (San Diego FC) – 27 points

Dreyer scored a memorable goal in the dying minutes of the game against Real Salt Lake and, clearly, the 26-year-old Danish attacker is one of the players to watch in this 2025 Western Conference.

Biggest Disappointments of Round 3

Edwin Cerillo (LA Galaxy)

Yes, it could’ve been Reus, Pec, Yoshida or any of LA Galaxy’s disappointing stars. But, it was Cerillo’s performance and stats that really got the team fans’ blood boiling. It’s a terrible start to the season.

The 3-0 home defeat to St. Louis City is the kind of disaster from which the team needs to move quickly if they want to salvage this campaign.

Dejan Joveljic (Sporting Kansas City)

Similarly to LA Galaxy, the entire Sporting Kansas City squad has something to answer for. But, my expectations of Dejan Joveljic have been particularly high.

The Serbian was one of the best strikers in the league in 2024 and arrives in Kansas with the goal of being the team’s undisputed star. Much more is needed to take advantage of Joveljic’s undeniable potential.
